I didn't do much videos of my children when they were babies, something I realise is quite sad. My son and my daughter love to watch themselves doing silly things, starting to climb the stairs for the first time or play in their grand-parents' garden... I have to start to use my camera with the video mode a little bit more often.

Je n'ai pas souvent filmé mes enfants quand ils étaient bébé et je me rend compte que c'est un peu dommage. Mon fils et ma fille adorent se regarder en train de faire les foufous, monter les marches d'un escalier pour la premire fois ou jouer dans le jardin de leur grands-parents... Il faut vraiment que j'utilise plus souvent le mode vidéo de mon appareil photo.

Gabriel est ses "pffrttt"... Août 2009, Gérone, Catalogne.

We were enjoying a rest on a bank in the old Gerona, on a very sunny and hot afternoon, while drinking some Orxata (orgeat's drink), when Gabriel started to play with his mouth. It was so funny! I jumped on the camera and started filming.

At the end of the first video, Gabriel was spitting on everything. The camera was also targeted! That's why I stopped, cleaned it and did another video.

Nous nous reposions quelques minutes sur un banc dans le vieux Gérone, par une belle journée chaude et ensoleillée, tout en buvant de l'Orxata (boisson à base d'orgeat), quand Gabriel a commencé à jouer avec sa bouche. C'était tellement drôle! J'ai attrapé mon appareil photo et j'ai filmé.

A la fin de la première vidéo, Gabriel postillonnait partout. L’objectif n'a pas été épargné! C'est pourquoi j'ai arrêté de filmer, je l'ai nettoyé et fais une nouvelle vidéo.

Sophie was 3 months old. It was a nice day, she was very happy, and mostly very chatty. Well, only when there were no camear in sight. As soon as I tried to "capture" her babblings, she stopped. I, then, spoke with her and asked her questions. It seems that she wanted to talk with me so we had a Q&A after her lenghy conference (not recorded, it was before I decided to take my camera).

Sophie avait 3 mois. C'était un beau jour de juin, elle était toute contente et très bavarde. Enfin, seulement lorsqu'il n'y avait pas d'appareil photo en vue. Dès que j'ai essayé de capturer ses babillages, elle s'est arrêtée. J'ai donc discuté avec elle et je lui ai posé des questions. Il semblait qu'elle voulait avoir une conversation avec moi et que je lui pose des questions. Après sa très longue conférence (non enregistrée, la caméra n'était pas encore dans mes mains), une session de Questions/Réponses lui a beaucoup plu.

I encourage you to document the first years of life of your children (pictures, video clips, drawings, etc). While growing up, they will be able to see their evolution and in doing so to better understand the changes happening to them: their body (for example: puberty), their mind (new knowledge, new opinions...) or their surroundings (new baby in the family, a move across the country or overseas, etc)

Je vous encourage à documenter les premières années de vie de vos enfants (photos, films, collages, etc). En grandissant, ils pourront voir leur évolution et ainsi mieux appréhender les changements qui se produisent dans leur corps (par ex: la puberté) comme dans leur tête (plus de connaissances et de réflexions) ou bien dans leur environnement (nouveau bébé dans la famille, déménagement...).
